In what different ways do you want to explore photographic works on a website?
Info
Evelyn Dragan is a renowned photographer based in Frankfurt. Her work focuses on portrait, fashion, reportage and still life and was published in newspapers and magazines like DIE ZEIT, Architectural Digest and Monocle. Among her prestigious clients are Deutsche Bahn, Caritas, Mercedes Benz and Facebook.
The aim of the new website is to offer visitors two options for navigating: discover entire stories and use filters to find specific motifs in the library. The design therefore also differs in the layout. ›Stories‹ draw the visitor immersively into the series of images and focus on individual motifs. Whereas the ›Library‹ offers a quick overview of a variety of motifs.
In general, the design is very subtle and it supports the nostalgic style of Evelyn’s work with the classic serif font and the slightly off-white background. The layout and typography are primarily used for orientation and navigation. All graphic elements are essential.

For Evelyn's large photo archive, we chose Contentful as our headless content management system. With a headless approach, frontend and backend are decoupled and we can therefore develop performant, bespoke and flexible solutions. The gallery was built from scratch and runs 60 frames per second using the requestAnimationFrame() method. This allows us to achieve smooth animations and switch between the large and small view.
